Cummings School Microsites was created to allow faculty and staff at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University to manage their department, lab, organization or other affiliated unit’s website.  The service is provided by the Marketing Department at the Cummings School.  If you are affiliated with the Cummings School and would like to request a microsite, there are few things we would like you to know first.

  1. Website:
We will provide you with the “shell” of a website that will include an approved design (that fits within the Cummings School and Tufts branding guidelines).
  2. Plugins:
We will provide you with a variety of plugins to meet most (we can’t promise all) of your site’s needs.  A plugin is a little program that provides functionality.  For example, you may want to have polls on your website.  We can provide you with a polls plugin that will allow you to easily set up polls and review responses.
  3. Training & Documentation:
We require that every requesting unit assign at least one (we recommend two or three) person to be trained to create and manage the site content.  This person will receive training and documentation and limited support from the Marketing Department to manage the website.  If you do not have someone in your department, we will help you find a freelancer whom you will pay out of your unit’s budget to manage and maintain your website.
  4. Service with a Smile:
You will not be completely on your own.  We will do our best to help you create a website that meets your needs and your site visitors’ needs.  However, we are a small department with many high priority projects that takes the vast majority of our time.  This service is intended to be a self-service tool with a fair amount of hand holding, but we cannot do everything for you.  We ask you to partner with us to make your website a success.

So, are you ready?  Let us know if you would like more information about creating a microsite at the Cummings School.
