From January 4th to January 11th, Cummings School faculty were asked to vote on the motion from the Curriculum Committee for the school to enter the design phase of curriculum redesign. 75 out of 116 faculty responded to the survey (65%) and the final vote was:
Yes: 45 – 60%
No: 30 – 40%
Now that the majority of faculty have voted to go forward with curriculum redesign, the first task will be to identify the best design process for the school. The approach is likely to include targeted meetings with interested faculty to work on specific aspects of the curriculum, working groups, and a Curriculum Redesign Committee.
At the end of the design phase (which might take 1.5-2.5 years), the following will be presented to faculty for consideration: Curriculum design, implementation plan, projected multi-year budget for implementation, and a timeline for implementation. A second vote will be conducted to approve the new curriculum and begin the implementation phase.
