Disney refers to this as an externship however it is for 1st/2nd or 2nd/3rd Year Students. If you are interested apply now. If you get accepted, you can receive selective credit for this by completing the self-styled selective section of the Summer Selective Qualtrics survey in April.
This new externship is designed for veterinary students who are between their 1st/2nd or 2nd/3rd years in vet school, and are interested in gaining experience in zoo medicine and in research. Our primary goal is that the vet student will take on a large-scale research project here with Disney’s Animal Health Team, and will have the opportunity to be involved in every facet of that project, from start to finish, including authorship and subsequent publication in the peer-reviewed literature. There will also be opportunities for clinical case observation, participation in necropsies, and to learn about zoo animal husbandry. The externship posting (link below) has some additional information.
